Can you be supervised remotely in Oregon?
Mostly, with some limits. What shapes this: prior board approval.
- Video supervision: Monthly supervision may be in person in a professional setting or through live, synchronous, confidential electronic communications (OAR 833-050-0081(5)); the supervisor need not work at the same site and supervision need not come from the same agency. Supervision must still meet the twice-monthly, different-weeks cadence, and the supervisor must have access to charts and records.

- Supervisor credential: No separate supervisor license, but beyond the Oregon license every supervisor must complete 30 clock hours of post-master's supervision training and pass the Board's supervisor law & rules exam; LPC/LMFT supervisors need ≥2 yrs active Oregon licensure (waived for AAMFT/CCE Approved Supervisors or CACREP CES doctorates); other Oregon mental-health licensees need ≥3 yrs Oregon licensure. - Board approval first: Board must approve the associate registration plan (supervisors, places of practice, employers) before any clinical services; any change of supervisor, employment or practice location must be approved before it starts.
- If you live outside Oregon: Oregon registration authorises treating clients in Oregon in person or electronically; for practice outside Oregon the associate and supervisor must verify the other jurisdiction authorises it, and practice contrary to another jurisdiction's law does not count. Board FAQ says the jurisdiction where the associate is physically located decides whether an Oregon-registered associate may treat Oregon clients from there.
