Can you be supervised remotely in Wyoming?
Mostly, with some limits. What shapes this: prior board approval, video status not stated.
- Video supervision: Ch. 14 §3(g) requires at least 1 hour of 'face-to-face' supervision per week for applicants who have not held a psychology license. A variance for geographic or physical hardship is possible while keeping 1 hour per 20 hours of client contact. 'Face-to-face' is not defined. The Ch. 15 Ethics definition of 'telepsychology' expressly includes supervision delivered by videoconferencing or audio-only telephone. That suggests remote supervision is a recognised mode, but Ch. 14 does not say whether it satisfies the face-to-face weekly hour (see board_questions).
- Supervisor credential: No registry. The supervisor must be licensed for the practice of psychology, with at least 2 years of independent practice in the area supervised and competence in the services supervised. The Board may disqualify supervisors.
- Supervisee cap: No fixed cap. The Board may require documentation of adequacy when one psychologist supervises multiple people.
- Board approval first: Yes. The supervisor and supervisee must file a specific plan of supervision for Board approval before the supervisee delivers any services. For a postdoc in Wyoming (Psychological Resident), the supervisor also files a Supervision Agreement form. Quarterly Supervision Report Forms are kept.
